My name is William Yeung; I am a 19 year- old running for mayor in the city I grew up in. I am a 2022 Lakewood High, Tri-C, and CSU graduate through the College Credit Plus Program. My reasons for running are mainly to uphold my personal views on democracy and to fulfill a commitment I made to myself back when I was in 1st grade and met one of our previous mayors of Lakewood who was serving in 2011.
I support equity and inclusion for all marginalized identities, being mindful of how we impact the environment around us, bettering education for fellow citizens, and building support so they can achieve what they are capable of. I also strongly support getting younger people involved in politics by running for office, voting, activism, or many other means.
